The HELLENiQ ENERGY team made a vibrant appearance at the 41st Athens Authentic Marathon, held on Saturday, November 9, and Sunday, November 10. This year, the Group’s team of 232 volunteer runners was its largest ever, representing all six countries where the Group operates.
Under the motto "Running beyond borders - Six countries, one team, for a good cause," the volunteering team from Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, and the Republic of North Macedonia participated in the 5 km, 10 km, and 42 km races. Their participation supported the mission of Make-A-Wish Greece, contributing to fulfilling the wishes of three children with serious illnesses from the local communities where the Group operates.
Georgia Lasanianou, HELLENiQ ENERGY’s Corporate Responsibility Manager, stated: "Solidarity and continuous social contribution are fundamental values for HELLENiQ ENERGY and its people. Beyond the joy of participating in the Athens Authentic Marathon, the Group's employees—including 30 colleagues from abroad—demonstrated their commitment to making a difference through their actions, no matter how small. This year, we are united in supporting the mission of Make-A-Wish Greece, aiming to bring joy to three children who have learned to fight for their lives. We are making their wishes come true, while our own wishes will continue to accompany them."
Sandra Zafirakopoulou, CEO at Make-A-Wish Greece, stated: “HELLENiQ ENERGY has consistently stood by children in need, specifically those of Make-A-Wish Greece. Always focused on the local communities they operate in; they support the fulfillment of wishes for children living in those areas. It is heartwarming to witness their unwavering support, along with their desire to help children nearby experience their dreams. Only through such partnerships can we aspire to reach all the children facing life-threatening illnesses, and sadly, there are thousands of them."
On Saturday, 123 volunteer colleagues participated in the 5 km race of the Athens Authentic Marathon, while on Sunday, 82 runners from the Group joined the 10 km race, and another 27 completed the full 42 marathon.
A highlight of the 41st Athens Authentic Marathon was the “HELLENiQ ENERGY Running Station” set up on Ardittou Street. This space served as a meeting point for commemorative photos, nutritional support, and post -race recovery, offering a warm welcome to the Group's volunteer runners.
We extend our gratitude and congratulations to all the participants who ran this year for a good cause, and we look forward to next year’s continued participation in the Athens Marathon, with even more of our colleagues joining.
