2 minutesHELLENIC PETROLEUM S.A. announces that the CEO, Mr. Panos Cavoulacos handed in his resignation to the Chairman of the BoD, Mr. E. N. Christodoulou, who thanked him, in the meeting of the Board of Directors that took place today, for his valuable contribution in making the company a vertically integrated energy group.
Mr. Cavoulacos referred to the 3 main targets achieved during his term, namely the creation of an international competitive energy group in SE Europe, the implementation of strategies to develop the company’s portfolio of activities and the maximization of profits.
After a joint decision by the Ministries of Economy and Development, the position of the Chief Executive Officer of HELLENIC PETROLEUM was assigned to –representing the Greek State- Mr. John Costopoulos, who held the position of Executive Member in the Board of Directors before.
Mr. Costopoulos, an Economist and M.B.A. holder from the University of Chicago, U.S.A., started his career in 1979, and from 1982 until 1991 worked in executive positions abroad; after returning to Greece in 1991, he worked as a CEO in private organizations. From 2001 until 2003, he was CEO of PETROLA HELLAS SA and since 2003 has been a member of the Board of Directors and a Management Consultant to HELLENIC PETROLEUM S.A.
The new Board of Directors consists of:
1. Efthimios Christodoulou, Chairman of BoD, representative of the Greek State
2. John Costopoulos, Chief Executive Officer, representative of the Greek State
3. Nikolaos Lerios, Executive Member, representative of the Greek State
4. Vassilios Bayiokos, representative of the Greek State
5. Panagiotis Pavlopoulos, representative of the Greek State
6. Marios Tsakas, representative of the Greek State
7. Elisabeth Tipaldou-Loverdou, representative of the Greek State
