In terms of corporate social responsibility activities, the HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group has focused on actions for the new generation as a priority. For the seventh consecutive year, we show our support to the new generation by awarding citizens of neighboring communities for succeeding in getting accepted by Universities and Colleges.
This initiative of HELLENIC PETROLEUM has become a custom over the past years for the young people of the Thriassio (Aspropyrgos, Elefsina, Mandra, Magoula, N.Peramos, Megara) and West Thessaloniki regions (Diavata, Magnisia, Kalochori, Kordelio, Euosmos). For the academic year 2014-2015, 300 students were awarded from all the Universities and Colleges of Greece.
This year’s Awards Ceremony for the young people of Thessaloniki was held in a central hotel of the city, on the 6th of April. Respectively, for the young people of Athens area the ceremony was held in the HELLENIC PETROLEUM Aspropyrgos Headquarters, on the 7th of April. Both ceremonies attracted great interest, especially as the HELPE Youth Project was introduced. This is a new activity for the new generation, which provides special and unique privileges through a membership card, creating a virtual network of young people. The membership card was launched during the Awards Ceremonies in Athens and Thessaloniki, resulting in registering our first members.
In both ceremonies Mr. I. Papathanasiou, the Chairman of the Board of Directors in his brief speech, mentioned the important contribution of the Group to education, focusing on the actions taken for the new generation, and he assured the audiences that HELLENIC PETROLEUM will continue supporting the young people, by offering job opportunities, in order to prevent them from migrating abroad. The ceremonies were honored also by the presence of local Authorities, educational community representatives, the Group’s executive officers, employee Unions members and the parents, relatives and friends of the young people awarded. At the end of each ceremony, the young people took souvenir photos from the photo booth placed in the area of the ceremony.
The HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group, through corporate social responsibility activities, such as Scholarship Programs for postgraduate studies abroad, Young Graduates Employment Programs and Skills Development Seminar Programs, supports strongly the new generation, which is undoubtedly the future of our country.
